Ash is a fabulous horse who has proven to be a genuine chap. I have owned him since he was 3 years old. In that time I have been hacking him out over the forest and doing some basic school/ pole work with him. Most of my time has been spent hacking him out alone. He has been brilliant! I am a novice rider and he has not put a foot wrong out on a hack- he takes everything in his stride. No problems with anything we have encountered including fire engines and leaf blowers! As I am not a skilled rider I have recently had a friend start to school him. She has had him cantering on both reigns and started popping him over low level jumps. He does need telling, he can be lazy to start. Once you get him going he does want to please and is happy going forwards. He has lots of potential and is ready for someone to take him onto the next level.
He has been great for the farrier and vet. I have not traveled with him so don’t know how he will be to load.
Before Christmas I bought a brand new Harry Dabbs saddle for him (£800) which would come as part of the price. He was quite tricky to get a saddle to fit as he is wide. This is a great fit now and he is going well in it. He has rugs for most occasions and these are all included. At the moment he is being stabled overnight- which he enjoys, but equally there is no reason why he couldn’t live out. Recently I have moved him into single turn out. I think he is happier this way as when in a field with other horses he does like to prove himself with his hind legs- this does only seem to be with bigger horses though. He is sound to handle but does need reminding of good manners.
I am selling Ash as I struggle with giving him the time he needs. He is a really genuine horse who would make a great all-rounder or hacker. He does need telling and would benefit from someone who is experienced and sensitive to dealing with slightly lackadaisical cobs!
